Ylläs - Guided Snowshoeing Adventure to Kesänki Fell

Begin your day by meeting your guide at Yllästunturi Visitor Center. After a short drive to the trailhead, your snowshoeing adventure begins. Your guide will fit you with snowshoes and poles and give a concise briefing on safety and basic techniques, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident. No prior experience is required, as this is snowshoeing, not downhill skiing, and the pace will be tailored to the group’s ability. Step into the quiet magic of Lapland’s winter landscapes, and begin your ascent through snow-laden pine forests that stretch as far as the eye can see. Your guide will share insights about the local flora and fauna, point out traces of Arctic wildlife, and recount captivating legends of the region, bringing the wilderness to life with every step. Halfway up the fell, pause at a traditional forest kota, providing a well-earned rest after your climb. Grill local sausages over a campfire, sip hot drinks, and take a moment to relax in the serene surroundings. Share stories with your fellow adventurers or simply savor the silence and beauty of the snow-covered forest, feeling completely immersed in nature. After the break, continue along quiet trails, gradually ascending toward the summit of Kesänki Fell (weather permitting). From the top, enjoy sweeping panoramic views of the fells and distant frozen lakes, capturing photographs of the stunning Arctic scenery. Moderate uphill sections offer a sense of accomplishment, while each turn reveals new vistas of untouched winter wilderness. Descend carefully back through the forest, following your guide to the starting point. As the day comes to a close, carry with you the tranquility of Lapland, the crisp winter air, and memories of an unforgettable snowshoeing adventure through some of the Arctic’s most enchanting landscapes.

This experience is suitable for participants with a basic to moderate fitness level and a sense of adventure. No previous snowshoeing experience is required, as your guide will provide a brief introduction and guidance throughout the trek. The tour involves a few hours of walking, including some uphill sections, so participants should be comfortable walking on uneven, snowy terrain. Please dress appropriately for Arctic weather, with warm layered clothing, gloves, hat, and thick socks. If needed, NordX Adventures can provide winter overalls and boots upon request for an extra fee. This tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with heart conditions, or those with limited mobility. We do not recommend participation for children under 10 years old.
