Cancellation Policy


  • Up to 7 days before departure: a 20% cancellation fee applies.
  • From 6 to 2 days before departure: a 50% cancellation fee applies.
  • Less than 48 hours before departure or in case of no-show: the full amount (100%) is non-refundable.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before departure. Late arrivals may lose their spot without refund.

Weather and children:

  • If temperatures drop below -20°C, children cannot join. Only their tickets will be refunded or rescheduled.
  • In case of severe weather affecting the tour, all participants will get a full refund or reschedule.

Meeting point

Yllästunturi Visitor Center Kellokas Parking

1. Meet & Greet

Welcome briefing and gear fitting (backcountry skis & poles). Drive to the starting point.


2. Into the Wilderness

Learn the basics of backcountry skiing and how to move efficiently through deep snow. Glide through peaceful forests and open fells, stopping for photos and to observe tracks of Arctic wildlife.


3. Break in a traditional kota

Midway through the tour, we’ll stop to enjoy a warm drink and light snack around an open fire – the perfect moment to relax and take in the silence of the wilderness.


4. Explore the Fells

Continue your journey across rolling terrain with beautiful views over the surrounding fells. Your guide will adapt the route according to snow and weather conditions to offer the best possible experience.


5. Return

Enjoy a gentle glide back through the snowy landscape, ending the adventure where it began – refreshed, recharged, and inspired by Lapland’s pristine nature.

Note: The itinerary and order of activities may be adjusted based on weather and logistics to ensure an optimal and safe experience.

Skill Level & Physical Condition


This experience is suitable for participants with a basic to moderate fitness level and a sense of adventure. No prior backcountry skiing experience is required, as your guide will provide instruction on using the skins, controlling speed, and navigating gentle uphill and downhill sections. The tour lasts approximately 5 hours and involves both uphill and downhill skiing, so participants should feel comfortable being active outdoors in winter conditions. Please dress in warm layered clothing, gloves, hat, and thick socks. NordX Adventures can provide winter overalls and boots if requested in advance and for an additional fee.

This tour is not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with heart conditions, or those with limited mobility. Children under 10 years old may only join with prior approval from NordX Adventures before booking.
